Raven has had a hard and disappointing life. He has become an egoistic grumbler who refuses to get involved with anyone. One day, Raven is bullied on his favourite rubbish dump by a group of seagulls. A stork sacrifices his own life to save him. An old wizard explains that Raven has to return the favour and gives him an unfamiliar egg. Raven has to brood the egg and bring the young bird to his family. A long search along different countries, people and birds follows. While bringing up the young bird, Raven becomes wiser, stronger and more loving.

A fantastic story which introduces many pieces of wisdom from diverse religions and philosophies in a very accessible way.
