Both the author and the illustrator found inspiration in the painting Foreplay of a broken love, by Edgard Tytgat (Flemish painter, 1879-1957). There is a man. And there is a woman. They walk together and think about their love. They share the same ideas about the future. At least, in the beginning. But as they continue their walk, their thoughts and feelings begin to drift apart. The man thinks about happiness, the woman about obligations. The man is brimming with love, the woman feels sucked empty by it. The man is absorbed in his dreams and expectations. The woman breaks.
